From Technology Leader to Global Nomad

Retired Educator, Technologist, and Slow Traveler

For nearly two decades, I served as Director of Technology at St. Stephen's Episcopal Day School in Coconut Grove, Florida, helping schools thoughtfully integrate technology, strengthen infrastructure, and create meaningful learning experiences for students and teachers.

Along the way, I founded Miami Device, later reimagined as ShiftinEdu, an international conference dedicated to innovation, creativity, and the future of education. I have presented at conferences across the United States and around the world, sharing practical ideas that help educators embrace change while keeping people at the center of the conversation.

Originally trained as a music educator, I have always viewed technology through the lens of teaching and learning. Whether leading strategic initiatives, designing systems, speaking at conferences, or mentoring colleagues, my focus has remained the same: helping people grow, connect, and thrive.

Today, my wife Sheryl and I are beginning a new adventure. After retiring from our careers in education, we launched Today We Are Living, a project dedicated to documenting our transition into full-time slow travel and nomadic living. Through videos, stories, and conversations with people we meet around the world, we explore what it means to build a meaningful life beyond traditional expectations.

This website brings together both chapters of my journey: a career devoted to education and innovation, and a new season focused on curiosity, connection, and discovering the world one place at a time.

      • Preparing for our July honeymoon throughout Italy (Bergamo, Limone sul Garda, Verona, Ortisei, Chioggia, Florence, Siena, Pienza, Vietri sul Mare, and Rome).
      • Getting ready for our transition into full-time slow travel beginning in mid-August, starting in Albania.
      • Selling, donating, and releasing nearly everything we own.
      • Finalizing the two carry-ons and two backpacks that will contain 100% of our possessions moving forward.
      • Continuing to build a plan for our “Today We Are Living” Youtube channel.
      • Getting ready to become a grandfather and meet Bradlee. Due date: August 7, 2026.
      • Still adjusting to the fact that we eloped on November 22, 2025. Best decision ever.
